ANSONIA – Police officers were assigned to patrol Ansonia schools Monday (Sept. 28) after an unspecified social media post was brought to the attention of school officials.
“At this time, there is no known threat to our schools. However, out of an abundance of caution, police will be circulating all Ansonia schools to help ensure the safety and security of all students and staff,” according to a message sent to parents by Superintendent Joseph DiBacco.
DiBacco wrote that school officials were informed of a post over the weekend, which was referred to police. The post was taken down and police are continuing to investigate, the message says.
Additional details – such as what was in the post or who made it – were not available as of Monday morning. Voicemails were left with DiBacco and Ansonia Police Lt. Alexander Barreira seeking further information.
