Ansonia Cyclist Badly Injured In Shelton

GOOGLE EARTHA 55-year-old Ansonia man suffered life-threatening injuries after a bicycle accident on Bridgeport Avenue Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Brian Climis.

Investigators are trying to piece together what happened.

According to a brief summary from police, law enforcement and medics were sent to the area of 504 Bridgeport Ave. at 7:45 a.m.

Emergency radio transmissions initially indicated a person was struck by a car, but police said in a prepared statement there is no evidence to suggest a vehicle was involved.

The initial report said Climis was “conscious and alert.”

The same radio transmissions reported that a doctor stopped to help Climis. Emergency responders then said Climis went into traumatic arrest and that CPR was being used.

He was taken to Bridgeport Hospital from the accident scene on a “trauma alert,” which indicates serious injury or illness.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Shelton Police Traffic Division at 203 924 1544.

The incident happened near a Starbucks coffee shop on the busy commercial corridor.
