Derby Mayor Rich Dziekan’s office sent a message Tuesday saying the transfer station will be closed Wednesday and that garbage pickup has been postponed.

Also, free parking is available at the parking garage downtown Tuesday into Wednesday for anyone who wants to get his or her vehicle off the street. Click this link to read about Derby winter parking regulations.

The news comes as the region readies for a winter storm.

Due to the impending inclement weather, the transfer station will be closed on Wednesday, March 7,” according to the mayor’s office.

Everyone please stay safe and warm. If the roads are bad, avoid traveling and allow public works to plow without interruption. Thank you in advance,” Dziekan said.

There will be no charge to park in the municipal parking garage tonight into tomorrow.”
