Drug Charges Lodged In Ansonia

An Ansonia woman was arrested Thursday (April 19) after police investigating a burglary at her home last month allegedly found marijuana there.

According to a prepared statement from Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch, 37-year-old Heather Swanson reported the break-in at her Platt Street home March 8.

While investigating, Lynch said, officers and detectives found marijuana left out in the open throughout the home. Further investigation revealed that Swanson received a package from California, which contained marijuana wax.”

Cops seized nearly a pound of marijuana and three-quarters of a pound of marijuana wax, Lynch said.

Police obtained a warrant charging Swanson with operation of a drug factory, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Swanson was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Derby May 3.
