Mayor Dziekan Helps Out With Meals On Wheels

Derby Mayor Rich Dziekan traveled door-to-door Nov. 14 to help deliver food to home-bound people who benefit from Meals-on-Wheels, a program administered locally by TEAM Inc. of Derby.

Dziekan met TEAMs Meals on Wheels truck and staff at the Valley Diner on Route 34 and then traveled door-to-door for about an hour.

Serving in twelve communities, TEAMs central offices are located at 30 Elizabeth St.

Dziekan volunteered his time to demonstrate awareness and increase support for the program that helps many Valley’s homebound and often isolated older residents.

The majority of TEAMs Meals on Wheels recipients live in isolation, one in two are low income, and almost one out of every three is aged 90 years or more,” according to a statement from TEAM.
