Shelton Man Faces Nine Years In Bank Robbery

A Shelton man faces nine years in prison after pleading guilty to robbing a Bridgeport Avenue bank in December.

Michael Magliocco, 27, pleaded guilty at Superior Court in Milford to a charge of first-degree robbery June 5 before Judge Frank Iannotti.

Police said that about 10 a.m. Dec. 30, Magliocco entered the Webster Bank at 375 Bridgeport Ave. and handed a note to a teller demanding cash.

The teller then handed over an unspecified amount of money. There were no injuries.

Magliocco was arrested hours after the robbery after surveillance photo from the heist was circulated by the media and cops received calls identifying him as the suspect.

Police said they found Magliocco at a condo complex next to the bank property and took him into custody. He has been in jail since.

Though a prosecutor offered Magliocco a deal that calls for a 12-year prison sentence last month, court documents indicate Magliocco will receive an 18-year sentence to be suspended after he serves nine years, followed by five years of probation.

On June 5 Magliocco also admitted to violating probation stemming from a 2006 robbery case out of Bridgeport.

His sentencing in the case is scheduled for Aug. 7.
