The Singing Hot Dog Man Of Derby Dishes It Out

Whether you’re on the way to your arraignment, your sentencing, or just to pay those parking tickets, Mark Lanzieri is always outside the Derby courthouse to sell you a hot dog, or more often than not, sing you a classic Frank Sinatra tune.

On Wednesday, Lanzieri hooked up a PA system and a tiny microphone to belt em out like the crooners of old.

Back in October, Lanzieri won first prize at the 2B Awards” talent contest in New Haven. 2B Awards also functions as a talent agency, and it’s chief operating officer Melissa Toros was on hand for Lanzieri’s performance.

Toros said that her agency is in the process of trying to get Lanzieri on morning network TV shows.

In addition to the steps of the Sterling Opera House, Lanzieri also sings in clubs around the area with the Paul King Big Band.

Lanzieri has been selling hot dogs outside the Derby courthouse for 26 years. He is considering making PA system a regular part of his operation.

I wish he would set it up like this all the time,” said Derby Mayor Tony Staffieri.
