The goal of the recognition breakfast is acknowledge students who have demonstrated increased motivation, built self-esteem and to encourage students from all academic tracks to continue to improve academically.

| Oct 19, 2016 8:21 pm |Ansonia Republicans are planning to meet behind closed doors Thursday night to talk about school funding, the Valley Indy has learned.
Members of the public will not be allowed to attend because it is a political caucus.
Republican officials said the caucus will include Republican members of the Board of Aldermen’s finance and education subcommittees, Republican members of the Board of Education, as well as Mayor David Cassetti and members of his administration.

I respect the Board of Education’s stance on the solicitation letter sent in support of Ansonia schools.
However, I also stand by the importance of charitable giving and its ability to relieve residents of involuntary tax increases.

Unfortunately, as you are already aware, a solicitation letter titled “Go the Extra Mile For Ansonia Schools” was included in your annual tax bill. Neither the Board of Education nor the Superintendent ever reviewed the letter or gave the City of Ansonia or its representatives the permission to send this letter out.

As the 119 students of the Ansonia High School Class of 2016 received their diplomas under a sunny early evening sky on June 9 at Jarvis Field, these students became one of Ansonia’s most successful classes in terms of college credit earnings.
This is something that puts a smile on the faces of most families who are facing the daunting reality of annual college tuition costs of $40,000 and more.
