Citizens Engine Co. No. 2 continued a long tradition of helping Seymour students pay for college this week, when it handed out $2,900 in scholarships.

Shelton School Board Passes ‘Goals-Based’ Budget Request

Shelton Schools Superintendent Christopher Clouet

On January 24, the Shelton Board of Education voted to recommend a $74,318,407 budget for the school year 2018 – 19. It represents a 3.99 percent increase over the current budget. 

It is a Goals-Based Budget Proposal!

Our primary goal is to increase student achievement in both SATs and SBAC in order to place Shelton students in the top quartile of student achievement in our state over the next three years.

Ansonia Students Honored At Awards Banquet

Four Ansonia students were presented with the Superintendent’s Award of Excellence at the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendent’s annual awards dinner on Dec. 7 at Grassy Hill Lodge, Orange.

The students are Elizabeth Cavanaugh and Jesse Brookins of Ansonia High School and Arianna Swaby and Jeffrey Benavides of Ansonia Middle School. They were presented with their awards by Dr. Carol Merlone, Superintendent of Schools; Dr. Joseph DiBacco, Assistant Superintendent, and their school administrators, which includes AHS Principal Terri Goldson, Assistant Principal Sara Crooks, Dean of Students Tom Brockett, AMS Principal Dr. Michael Marotto and Assistant Principal Steve Marchetti.

Shelton New Student Registration Information

Shelton School System will hold registration at all schools for all new students the week of August 21, 2017. Each school will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to receive students new to our school district on Monday through Friday.

All parents seeking to enroll their student(s) in the Shelton School System will be asked to supply a current CTdriver’s license along with two (2) forms of verification of local residency. Documents that will be acceptedinclude: mortgage receipt, rental receipt or copy of a lease, utility bills (gas, electric, telephone, Cable TV). The documents must be brought to the school at the time of registration.

Ansonia Middle School Graduates 174 Students

A total of 174 eighth grade students participated in a Commencement Program at Ansonia Middle School (AMS) on June 12 in the Richard Nicolari Auditorium. The program was followed by a reception for students and their families.

Interim Principal Dr. Michael Marotto also announced the top two graduates of the class: Michael Szewczyk of Team 8‑East, who delivered the future history of the class, and Kendyl Auddino of Team 8‑West, who gave the welcoming address.

Shelton Students Inducted Into World Language Honor Societies

CONTRIBUTEDOne hundred fifty-one students were inducted into the Shelton High School World Languages National Honor Societies at a ceremony held at the school on Thursday, March 30. 

The student-led ceremony was run by current officers of the Spanish, French and Italian World Languages National Honor Societies. Superintendent Clouet and Headmaster Dr. Beth Smith offered opening remarks. Each student was then awarded with the appropriate honor society medal, prior to taking their honor society oath in the target language. The ceremony concluded with a reception breakfast in the school’s cafeteria.

Shelton Students Honored

CONTRIBUTEDFour very accomplished Shelton students were recognized at an awards ceremony for six regional districts on Dec. 1 and received the prestigious Superintendent’s Award (aka the CAPSS Award, Connecticut Association of Public Schools Superintendents organization est. 1907). 

Two Shelton High School Seniors, (left to right in photo) Madelena Da Silva Cardoso and Anand Vaish, and two Shelton Intermediate School eighth grade students, Connor Jensen and Jessica Jayakar, rose to the top of the more than 400 students in their respective grades.
