Former Building Official Elliot Wilson will be locked up Wednesday for his conviction in the federal corruption probe in Shelton.
But as of Monday afternoon, his employment status at City Hall was still up in the air.
Wilson, 67, has not resigned or been fired — and he’s waiting to hear whether the city will let him retire.
“Nothing’s definite yet,” said Wilson, who hasn’t been paid by the city since being placed on administrative leave in January 2010.

Elliot Wilson isn’t sophisticated — and he was scared.
So that’s why he lied to a federal grand jury about corruption in Shelton, according to his attorney, Michael Hillis.
But it doesn’t explain why Wilson, the city’s former head building inspector, accepted gifts, cash and favors for a decade before the grand jury inquisition.
For that reason, U.S. District Judge Charles S. Haight Jr. said he had to sentence Wilson to jail for the single charge against him — lying to a federal grand jury.
Wilson, 67, was sentenced Wednesday to five months in a federal prison followed by five months served on house arrest and two years of supervised release.

Where do you hide $870,000 in cash from the IRS?
Shelton developer James Botti hid $870,000 in the exterior soffits of his father’s home in 2006 after IRS agents began closing in on him, according to testimony Tuesday in Botti’s federal money structuring trial in U.S. District Court in New Haven.
