$300,000 In Housing Rehabilitation Assistance Available To Shelton Property Owners

On behalf of the City of Shelton, Mayor Mark Lauretti invites interested property owners to a Powerpoint presentation outlining the City of Shelton’s Housing Rehabilitation program on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Shelton City Hall auditorium, 54 Hill St.

The City of Shelton has had a long-standing housing rehabilitation program, but has been newly awarded $300,000 from HUD and DECD to fund housing rehabilitation projects for low and moderate income Shelton property owners.

Funds will be used to assist eligible low and moderate income Shelton property owners in making needed health and safety improvements to their homes. Loans are indefinitely deferred and are repaid only at change of title to home.

Allowable project types, among others, include ADA modifications; roof replacement; energy efficiency upgrades; window replacement; furnace replacements; lead remediation; hazard removal; septic repair or replacement; code compliance, and electrical and plumbing upgrades.

Applications will be available at the Powerpoint presentation and are also posted on the City’s website. Applications will be served on a first come, first serve basis.
