Ansonia Mayor Della Volpe Wants Seventh Term

Ansonia Mayor James Della Volpe has announced he will seek a seventh term in office. 

Della Volpe, in a letter to the Democratic Town Committee, asked for its nomination for the 2011 election. 

With your help and support, we have accomplished much for our city, but there are more challenges ahead,” Della Volpe wrote. 

Della Volpe said Ansonia has managed to tighten our fiscal belts, keeping taxes stable while maintaining vital investments in public safety, education and upkeep of our infrastructure and recreational opportunities.”

Mayor’s Intent to Run

He listed school improvements, fire department equipment upgrades and the city’s soon-to-open Riverwalk as examples of his accomplishments during his 12-year tenure. 

Della Volpe, who underwent heart bypass surgery in February 2010, said he was ready to lead with restored and vigorous health.”

The Republican Town Committee has not announced who will be its candidate for mayor in 2011. The group plans to meet in July to endorse candidates.
