A billiards team sponsored by Chaser’s Bar and Lounge in Ansonia will be playing in a pool tournament in Las Vegas later this month.
The team’s name — “Chasing Vegas,” of course.
Chaser’s owner Len Stauffer said the team is affiliated with the American Poolplayers Association (APA).
The team won six straight elimination games to qualify for the APA National Team Championships, which is scheduled for Aug. 18 to Aug. 21 in Vegas.
The grand prize — $25,000.
Twelve teams qualify from Connecticut annually, Stauffer said in an e‑mail.
The league pays for the team’s travel and lodging expenses.
The “Chasing Vegas” team from Ansonia includes: Captain “Big Nick” Lampronikos, Nick Lampronikos Jr., Jordan Lampronikos, Chris Sansone, John Gayda, Mike Dirienzo and Toni Ann Dirienzo.
