Ansonia teachers and administrators participated in a Convocation Day program Tuesday (Aug. 26) morning, celebrating excellence with Yvette Bailey, the 2014 – 15 Teacher of the Year; enjoying an entertaining performance from guest speaker and magician Mark Robinson, and honoring two dedicated educators who lost their lives this summer, Cindy Goldberg (to cancer) and Dennis Gleason (to ALS).
Mrs. Goldberg was a speech and language pathologist at Mead School and was the 2006 Ansonia Teacher of the Year.
Dennis Gleason taught chemistry at Ansonia High School until his retirement and was the Athletic Director for the district.
Several school district members, led by Dr. Carol Merlone, Superintendent, spoke about both educators during a moving and motivational program.
Ansonia administrators and City of Ansonia leaders participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge outside AHS to conclude the morning’s events.
