Two Valley residents — Ansonia’s Joan Lawlor and Seymour’s Frank Haines — joined Prendergast students to talk about their experiences of living through the Flood of 1955.

The students recently completed a unit on natural disasters, part of which entailed learning about the Flood of 1955, which ravaged the Naugatuck Valley.

Megan Silva, a fourth grade teacher at Prendergast, emailed photos of Monday’s program to the Valley Indy, saying that the students enjoyed hearing from Lawlor and Haines.

The school plans to hold a similar event next year, Silva said.
