Arrests Made In Murder Of Ansonia Native

Two men have been arrested in connection to the murder of a woman with deep Valley roots.

Dr. Teresa Sievers, the Ansonia High School class of 1986 valedictorian, was killed inside her home in Estero, Florida June 29.

She was 46.

Last week Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott named two men from Missouri as suspects in the crime — Jimmy Rodgers, 25 and Curtis Wayne Wright, 47.

The sheriff’s office has not released details about the investigation at this point, including why the two men allegedly targeted the popular Florida doctor.

Media reports from Florida indicate Wright was a close friend of Sievers’ husband.

The Naples Daily News reported that Rodgers allegedly told his girlfriend that around the time of the murder he was leaving Missouri for a business trip that was to net him $10,000.

Rodgers was then spotted at a Walmart in Fort Meyers, Florida a day before Sievers was murdered.

Here is a video clip from an Aug. 27 press conference during which the sheriff announces the arrest:

Dr. Sievers was known for her community spirit. Ansonia was proud of her for her long list of accomplishments.

She had two daughters, ages 8 and 11, at the time of her death.

Dr. Sievers also had a large extended family locally, with relatives in Ansonia, Beacon Falls and Seymour.
