Update: The following message from Shelton Superintendent Freeman Burr was posted on the school district’s website Friday afternoon:
“Shelton High School Bomb Scare”
Good afternoon students, staff, parents and community members:
Yesterday afternoon at approximately 1:20 PM an unidentified male caller left an anonymous voice message at the Shelton Public School’s Central Office. The message was forwarded to my extension and I was called out of a meeting to listen to the message.
The caller, using a disguised voice, made reference to Shelton High School although the description of SHS was only partially accurate. The caller referred to a vehicle at SHS. A description of the vehicle was provided as well.
The Shelton Police Department was contacted and dispatched to SHS. SHS administration instituted emergency procedures while SPD and staff conducted a thorough search.
It was determined that the alleged threat lacked credibility. The Emergency Drill lasted approximately 15 minutes and dismissal buses departed beginning at 2:15 PM.
Feel free to contact me directly if you have any further questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Freeman Burr
Superintendent

Shelton police are investigating a bomb threat that was placed against Shelton High School just before school was dismissed Thursday.
Fire, police and school officials checked for what cops described as a “specific threat” but nothing was found after a search, according to a written statement from police.
Students left the school with police and firefighters watching.
The investigation continues.
