In Shelton, the race for the city’s top office pits incumbent Republican Mayor Mark Lauretti against Democratic challenger David Gioiello, a small business owner and head of the local Democratic Town Committee.

City Treasurer
Incumbent Republican Treasurer Raymond O’Leary faces Democratic challenger Bob Lally.
Board Of Aldermen
Eight Aldermen will be elected, two each from each of the city’s four wards. The Republican party currently holds a 7 – 1 majority on the board.
First Ward
Incumbents Republican Anthony Simonetti and Democrat John ​“Jack” Finn are both seeking re-election. The GOP is also running Gene Kierce.
Second Ward
Incumbent Republicans Eric McPherson and Stanley Kudej are both seeking re-election.
They face off against Democratic challengers Ralph Matto and Michele Bialek.
Third Ward
Incumbent Republicans John Anglace and Lynne Farrell are both seeking re-election.
Challenging them are Democrats Chris Jones and Judson Crawford.
Fourth Ward
Incumbent Republicans Noreen McGorty and John Papa are both seeking re-election.
They are being challenged by Democrat Pauline Dyer.
Board Of Education
Nine candidates from a field of 10 will be elected.
