Crash Claims The Life Of 60-Year-Old Derby Man

SHELTON — A 60-year-old man from Derby was killed after an accident on the Derby-Shelton bridge Tuesday (July 27).

The man was identified as David Guliuzza.

According to a prepared statement from Lt. Robert Kozlowsky, Shelton police, the fire department and EMS were sent to the bridge at 2:20 p.m. after a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.

Details of the accident are under investigation. 

According to the preliminary information from police, Guliuzza was riding his motorcycle on the bridge toward downtown Shelton. 

A vehicle being driven by 65-year-old Donald Wolanin of Shelton was on Riverside Drive heading toward the bridge when the crash occurred.

Police did not have information about what caused the crash. 

The incident was still very much under investigation by a reconstruction team at the site as of 8 p.m.

Wolanin was not injured, police said.
