The Oxford Academy of Hair Design at 153 North St. in Seymour is hosting a cut-a-thon Thursday to benefit Seymour High School student Nina Poeta, who is seriously ill with a brain tumor.
The cut-a-thon is from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25.
“She is a child in our community and we really want to raise a lot of money for her, and, of course, prayers,” Kellie Steeves, the salon’s owner, said in an e‑mail.
A fund to help the family set up by family friend Elizabeth Anderson Pisano has raised almost $90,000.
There has been a steady stream of events to benefit Nina and her family. Click here to track “Poeta Strong” on Facebook.
