Derby Man Charged In Shelton Robbery

A Derby has been charged with mugging an employee of a downtown Shelton business last month.

Jeffery Carmon, 30, faces charges of third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny in the case, which dates to Sept. 18, Shelton Detective Christopher Nugent said in a prepared statement.

Nugent said cops were notified that an employee of a business was walking to their vehicle in the Bridge Street parking lot when they were approached by a man who demanded their wallet.

The victim complied, after which the man fled.

A few days later, Officers David Eldridge and Richard Bailey matched the victim’s description to Carmon, Nugent said.

Detectives followed up and obtained a warrant charging Carmon, who was picked up by Derby cops Friday (Oct. 16) and then transferred to Shelton.

Carmon was held on $20,000 bond in the case and was also charged with two counts of skipping prior court dates in connection with a larceny charge in Milford and a motor vehicle case in New London.

He was arraigned at Superior Court in Derby Monday (Oct. 19), where a judge continued the case to Oct. 28. He was being held at Bridgeport Correctional Center as of Tuesday (Oct. 20) morning.
