Derby police are trying to catch whoever stole license plates from local dealers.
The CT dealer plates were affixed to a vehicle that is connected to the robbery of a cell phone store on Pershing Drive.
A female — seen in a red jacket in the photo posted by the police department on its Facebook page — “was used as a distraction” while a man stole the plate off a car.
The license plate theft happened in the afternoon — plate no. DC4626.
Police didn’t specify the date.
“If anyone has information on the identity of the pictured suspects, please contact the Derby Police Department at 203 – 735-7811. All calls may remain confidential,” according to a post on Facebook.
Derby police issued an alert Feb. 15 about a cell phone thief targeting Pershing Drive. It’s unclear whether he’s been arrested or if it’s connected to today’s release.
