DERBY — Police are asking for the public’s help to locate the people and cars involved in a drive by shooting on Anson Street last Saturday (Oct. 5).
No injuries were reported, but at least 10 gunshots were fired. Click here for a previous Valley Indy story.
On Friday (Oct. 11) Sgt. John Netto sent images of the two cars involved in the shooting, which was reported at about 11 a.m. last week. The images are above and are also posted at the bottom of this story.
Anyone who sees either vehicle or has information about them should call police at 203 735 7811.
Netto provided the following description of the cars:
* One vehicle is believed to be a light colored four door Chevy with one dark rim on the driver side rear no front plate
* The second vehicle appears to be a 2020 or newer four door Honga with no front plate, possibly gray pearl or sonic gray.
“If anyone sees the vehicles please note the location and time and pass the information to Derby police,” Netto said in a prepared statement.
A witness told The Valley Indy that he saw a blue car being followed by a light-colored car down Anson Street toward Fifth Street. As the blue car turned left onto Fifth Street, the car following opened fire. Some 10 shots were fired.
Additional gunfire was reported near the intersection of Fourth and Oliva streets a short distance away.
Netto said there may have been an exchange of gunfire between both cars, so he stressed that the occupants of both vehicles are considered armed and dangerous.
“If you get a plate number that is great but please DO NOT put yourself in harm’s way,” he said. “Just pass along the information you have to Derby Police at 203 735‑7811.”
