Derby’s own Charles J. Sampson is the Town of Westport’s newest police officer.
Sampson was sworn-in Monday during a ceremony in town hall, according to a press relese from Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe’s office.
Marpe swore Sampson in. Sampson’s son, Charlie, pinned a Westport police badge on his father’s uniform.
Sampson is no stranger to law enforcement or emergency services.
He was a Waterbury police officer for 22 years and was a past chief of the Derby Fire Department. He is the director of the Derby Office of Emergency Management, a volunteer position.
