Emmett O'Brien Students Receive Tool Donation

ANSONIA The following press release was sent by Steve Orloski at Emmett O’Brien Technical High School:

Emmett O’Brien’s Precision Machining Technology 9th grade students just recently received a $18,000 donation from the Forum Contract Manufacturing in Waterbury, Connecticut. The tools were presented to each of the students in a surprise ceremony.

Forum Contract Manufacturing President Mark Polinsky was on hand to present the students with the tools. He was pleased to be here today to present each of the students with all the tools needed for your four years at Emmett O’Brien Technical High School and to start your career in the manufacturing field.

We are not only investing in you as individuals, but investing in the future of manufacturing in CT. Every manufacturing company in CT needs skilled technical employees who love working with their hands and have the expertise and knowledge you will gain during your years here at Emmett O’Brien.

The 22 students arrived in the shop to find the tools all laid out in front of their toolboxes. They had huge smiles on their face, and were very appreciative of this amazing opportunity for each of them.

Steve Orloski, the Department Head of O’Brien’s Precision Machining Technology, said that the students have a wonderful Head-start coming out of this program with all of the necessary tools to make them successful in their trade. We are fortunate to have an amazing hi-tech training facility where we can have our students trained with the necessary skillsets to be highly proficient in today’s manufacturing field.

Orloski said that relationships with our industry partners are invaluable. We are always creating new pipelines to place our students in their companies. Forum Contract Manufacturing continues to be a strong supporter of our program and we are extremely grateful for that.

Orloski also stated that 95% of his students are immediately placed in successful manufacturing jobs as early as 10th grade. Several companies statewide contact him on a weekly basis for employment. This field is packed with opportunities and students are wasting no time taking advantage of them.

Superintendent Dr. Justin Lowe, who heads up the Connecticut Technical and Education career system, was also on hand for the celebration. He provided a clear message as to all the opportunities that today’s manufacturing has to offer. He spoke of the ongoing collaboration between business and education. He also spoke to the students about the importance of working hard and mastering specific skills in the manufacturing field while training at Emmett O’Brien.”
