Families dressed in costume are invited to come spend a classic crisp autumn day at Jones Family Farms’ Pumpkinseed Hill (120 Beardsley Road, Shelton) for their annual UNICEF Family Festival.
The events run from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 22 and Sunday Oct. 23.
Celebrating “Nautical Connecticut” as their 2011 Pumpkin Patch theme, the farmers at Jones Family Farms will have nautical games and crafts for kids that will include treasure hunting, tattoos, button making, and more. Entertainment will include a performance by the Center Stage Teen Cabaret on Saturday, champion pumpkin carver Bob Bonazzo and Nautical Story Time with specials guests throughout both days.
“It’s a great way for families to enjoy being outdoors together and help a wonderful charity,” said Keith Padin, Marketing and Hospitality Director for Jones Family Farms. “Too often, everyone stays cooped up inside. What better way to enjoy a great autumn day than out at the farm?”
The farm will offer hayrides, farm-baked pumpkin/cranberry cookies, cool cider, a family-friendly corn maze, fun photo stations, and for the first time – a kid-friendly hay maze as well.
Over the 25 plus years that the Jones family has been hosting this annual event, they have been able to raise over $100,000 for UNICEF.
“When we have the ability to make an impact on children all around the world, by inviting those of our own community to our farm, it just speaks volumes to the fact that every little bit helps,” says Terry Jones, fifth generation farmer.
The farm is located in Shelton, off Route 110 — 5 miles North of Shelton Center and 2 miles south of the junction of Route 110 and 111 in Monroe.
