Lauretti Has Raised $28K For Re-Election Bid

Mayor Mark Lauretti has more than doubled the fundraising efforts of his Democratic challenger Chris Jones, according to the latest campaign fundraising reports, on file at Shelton City Hall.

Between Oct. 1 and Oct. 30, Lauretti raised another $9,125 toward his re-election campaign — bringing his total fundraising efforts to $28,160.

During that same time period, Jones raised another $2,630 — bringing his total fundraising to $12,550.

Income

Lauretti’s campaign held one more fundraiser during the reporting period — a cocktail fundraiser at his home on David Drive on Oct. 2. His previous fundraisers were also held at his home. 

Some of his largest aggregated donations were:

  • $690 from John Millo, the city’s Emergency Management Director
  • $570 from Edward Miller, insurance agent for Ned Miller Associates
  • $500 from Warren Jacques, tree warden in Trumbull.
  • $500 from S. Brian Simmons, owner of OEM Controls Inc.

Christopher Shays, a Republican who wants to run for the U.S. Senate, Perry Pettas, co-owner of the Valley Diner, and Terry Jones, owner of Jones Family Farms in Shelton, also donated to Lauretti’s campaign. 

Lauretti also received $1,000 from the GOP 4, a political action committee based in Bridgeport, and $2,350 from an advertising program book. 

Jones also held one more fundraiser during the October reporting period — a cocktail party at Ralph Matto’s home on Audobon Lane.

His previous fundraisers included a kickoff cocktail party at Danny O’s, a family picnic at Holy Ghost Park in Shelton, and a fundraiser called Women for Chris” at Liquid Lunch.

Jones’s biggest aggregated donations were:

  • $1,000 from Ralph Matto, which was donated during a previous reporting period
  • $300 from David Gioiello, the Democratic Town Committee chairman in Shelton
  • $250 from Ingrid Waters, who lives in Shelton and listed herself as retired”

Jones’ campaign also sold one advertisement for a program book — a $250 ad to Huntington Rental in Shelton. 

Expenses

Lauretti’s campaign paid out $4,540.76 during October, on fundraiser expenses and postage. His total expenses for the campaign to date have been $7,879.97.

Jones’ campaign paid out $3,107.72 during October. His expenses included postage, rent for the campaign headquarters, banners and fundraising expenses. 

Jones’ expenses to date came to $4,907.97.
