Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti stopped by the Valley Indy Monday for an interview.

During the interview, the Valley Indy asked the mayor questions about a number of topics, including:
- How he got into politics when he was first elected in 1991;
- How the city has changed since;
- How he’d like to see the city change in the future;
- Whether he plans to run for governor again;
- Will City Hall be moved downtown?
- What else can residents expect in terms of downtown redevelopment?
- Shelton’s low taxes;
- Schools and education spending;
- Development city-wide — is Shelton built out?
- How he — and the city — have responded to scandals that saw two Shelton employees go to prison.
- Why he won’t be participating in a mayoral debate.
Lauretti has been mayor of Shelton since 1991. He is running for re-election to what would be his 13th term in office.
His competition for the mayor’s office —Democratic nominee Michele Bialek, a downtown business owner, and Timothy Bristol, a Shelton resident and write-in candidate.
The Valley Indy has scheduled interviews with Bialek and Bristol Wednesday (Oct. 21).
