Loud Phone Call Leads To Drug Arrest In Seymour

Mongillo

SEYMOUR — A 33-year old Seymour man was arrested on drug and weapons charges after police received a call about a disturbance at a convenience store.

Nicholas A. Mongillo was arrested March 7 after someone reported a person in the Henny Penny on Route 67 making threats loudly into a cell phone.

Seymour police responded and spotted Mongillo, who matched the description given to police, walking along Route 67.

Mongillo ran behind a tree when an officer approached, according to a police incident report.

Police detained Mongillo and said they found a syringe and an air pistol on the ground behind the tree where he had just been.

Police said a prior conviction prevents Mongillo from carrying items such as air pistols.

Police said they also found a small bundle of five wax folds, each containing a white substance that police later identified as fentanyl, in Mongillo’s possession.

Mongillo was charged with breach of peace, carrying a dangerous weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and use of drug paraphernalia.

He’s due in court on May 8.
