Update: Shelton Police Identify Pedestrian Killed On Feb. 9

SHELTON – Police are investigating the death of a man who was hit by a vehicle on Friday (Feb. 9).

Police issued a written statement saying officers and Shelton EMS were sent to the area of Monroe and School streets at about 1 p.m.

Officers found a man, identified Feb. 12 as Erick Irizarry, 29, of Waterbury, unconscious at the scene. He was pronounced dead.

Police said the accident reconstruction team is investigating. Irizarry was in the area working for Asplundh Tree Service when he was hit by a vehicle, police said.

Officials from the Office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) were contacted and were also on scene. OSHA’s presence is normal if the incident is deemed a workplace fatality.
