A Bridgeport man was sentenced to 13 months in prison Monday for stabbing an employee at a Shelton car wash and then leading police on a lengthy foot chase.
Orlando Cruz, 23, arrived at the Splash Car Wash at 376 Bridgeport Ave. the morning of July 19 and got into a heated argument with an ex-girlfriend who works at the business, police said.
A car wash employee stepped in and Cruz stabbed him in the torso with a pocket knife, according to police.
Cruz then ran into the woods, prompting Splash Car Wash manager Dave Jones to go after him.
Cruz was captured on Oliver Terrace after a manhunt that lasted roughly two hours.
Cruz was sentenced to a year in jail for third-degree assault and an additional 30 days for reckless endangerment.
He’ll be on supervised release for two years after he is released from prison.
Cruz was sentenced Monday in Superior Court in Derby.
