Man Harassing Woman From Jail, Police Say

A 41-year-old Shelton man with a history of ignoring court orders has been harassing a woman from his jail cell in Bridgeport, Oxford police allege.

Frederick Kushpinsky, 41, has been in and out of jail several times, dating back to 2002, for violating orders of protection and other crimes.

He was most recently admitted to Bridgeport jail April 19 on a second-degree harassment charge.

He was re-arrested May 6, according to Sgt. Dan Semosky, for continually calling an Oxford woman. He was under court order not to contact her, police said.

Kushpinsky has been calling the woman from jail, said Semosky, Oxford’s resident state trooper.

“He was warned,” Semosky said. “We must have told him to stop the harassment a half dozen times.”

Kushpinsky appeared in Superior Court in Derby Thursday and pleaded not guilty to the latest charges of harassment and violating a protective order.

He was represented by a public defender.

Kushpinsky could face up to five years if found guilty of violating the judge’s order.

He is due back in court June 10.
