Missing Info Stalls Oxford Probe

The audit into Tax Collector Karen Guillet’s office has been delayed due to missing information in the department’s records.

First Selectwoman Mary Ann Drayton-Rogers said Wednesday accountants Michaud and Accavallo of Ansonia have started an audit, but hit a roadblock due to the missing information.

Drayton-Rogers would not elaborate on what that information was missing, but said it was from a time period covering July to September 2009.

Drayton-Rogers said she has been working with Naugatuck Savings Bank to retrieve the missing documentation and get it to the auditors.

Drayton-Rogers said she is not sure when the audit will be completed.

As soon as the audit is completed, that information will be turned over to the (state police),” she said.

In addition to the internal audit, state police are conducting an investigation. Police are looking at records dating back to 2008.

Drayton-Rogers said she will be meeting with State Police Detective Joshua Patburg on Monday, Feb 8.

Drayton-Rogers said she will be interviewed during the meeting and expects that information to be used in a formal complaint against Guillet.

Drayton-Rogers said the details of the audit and ongoing investigation will not be made public until all the information has been gathered.

I am not playing judge and jury in this case,” she said. I am not going to release any information until the investigation is complete.”

The Board of Selectmen Wednesday approved funding up to $4,500 for Michaud and Accavallo to conduct the audit.

That money would come from the Board of Finance’s contingency fund.
