The Board of Selectmen met in executive session to discuss the details of the ongoing investigation of Tax Collector Karen Guillet prior to its regular meeting last month.
Tax Collector Karen Guillet was placed on paid sick leave Jan. 13 after First Selectwoman Mary Ann Drayton-Rogers received an anonymous tip about money missing from the tax collector’s office.
Town officials have not said how much money is allegedly missing.
Drayton-Rogers filed a written complaint to state police Feb.11. Included with the complaint — an audit of the tax collector’s office dating back to July 2009.
Drayton-Rogers said she would not comment on the progress of the investigation but did indicate that she recently met with state investigators.
“That is all I can say at this time and that is where it will stay until any action is taken,” she said.
Drayton-Rogers did not say how soon any action would take place.
Neither Guillet, nor her attorney, Edward Giacci, could be reached for comment.
Due to an anticipated busy tax collection season, the Board of Selectmen unanimously approved to expand the temporary assistant tax collector’s hours.
