Paugassett Hook & Ladder Company Holds Old Timers Night

DERBY — On Saturday, January 28, 2023, the Paugassett Hook & Ladder Company of the Derby Fire Department held its annual Past Captains and Old Timers Night. 

Several members were recognized, either for their years of service or to be acknowledged as Old Timers.“

Past Captain Ron Sill was recognized for his 50 years of service with the Company, and firefighter Frank Pepe was recognized for 35 years. Both Sill and Pepe received citations from the Connecticut General Assembly, and Sill was presented with a 50-year badge from the Company.

State Representative Nicole Klarides-Ditria, R‑105, and State Representative Mary Welander, D‑114, were on hand to present the honorees with their citations. 

Also in attendance were Derby Mayor Richard Dziekan and Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti.

Those firefighters acknowledged by the Company as official Old Timers” included Ron Sill, John Rak, Phil Balisciano, Michael Piscioneri, Jr., Joe Tracz, Paul Haluschak, and Joe Wojtowicz. Sill, Rak, and Piscioneri are all Past Captains of the Company.

Past Derby Fire Chief Chuck Stankye was honored with The Edward J. Tracz Memorial Owl Of The Year” Award for his service, dedication, and loyalty to the Company.
