Police Chief: Investigation Into Ansonia Homicide Progressing

Vanessa Morales and her mother, Christine Holloway. Anyone with information regarding Vanessa should call 203 503 5555 or 203 735 1885.

ANSONIA — Police Chief Andrew Cota told the Board of Aldermen Tuesday that the department hopes to file charges in the near future” as the investigation into the killing of 43-year-old Christine Holloway continues.

Police have not located Holloway’s daughter, 1‑year-old Vanessa Morales, who was last seen Nov. 29. Holloway was found dead inside their Myrtle Avenue residence Dec. 2.

Police have identified Jose Morales, Holloway’s boyfriend and the child’s father, as a suspect in both cases.

Police have been operating under the assumption that Vanessa is alive, because they have not found any indication to think otherwise.

Anyone with information about Vanessa’s whereabouts should call 203 503 5555 or 203 735 1885. The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward.

Since we last met we still continue to work on the homicide/missing baby case,” Cota told Ansonia’s legislative body during a meeting Tuesday. That’s at the forefront of all of our investigations at this point. We continue to follow up on leads and any other information and work toward the homicide aspect of getting closer toward an arrest in the near future.”

Morales has been in jail on weapons charges since Dec. 3 after Ansonia police obtained a warrant to search his residence in New Haven in connection to the homicide investigation. Ansonia cops allegedly found two stun guns in the residence and notified New Haven police because Morales is a convicted felon, which bars him from possessing weapons.

Police are working toward an arrest warrant which would have to get the OK from a court before proceeding.
