SEYMOUR – A 55-year-old woman from Bethel was charged with driving under the influence after allegedly driving the wrong way on Route 8 on Sunday morning.
According to a statement from state police, troopers were sent to an accident at 12:30 a.m. on Route 8 south just prior to exit 20 in Seymour. An ambulance was sent, too.
Police said a Lexus being driven by Heather Maton was heading north on Route 8 south when it hit a Jeep. Maton wasn’t injured and the Jeep’s driver declined medical attention.
Maton failed a field sobriety test, police said.
In addition to DUI, she’s charged with travelling the wrong way on a divided highway and second-degree reckless endangerment.
She posted a $1,000 bond and is due in court on Feb. 14.
