The Derby tax board approved a $41.9 million budget Tuesday with no tax increase, The New Haven Register reported.

The tax board kept funding flat for Derby Public Schools — which will be difficult for the school district to absorb because of contractual obligations and other basic increasing annual costs.
A public hearing on the proposed spending plan is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 23 in Derby City Hall, and the Register reports the budget could be officially adopted May 25.
