A Shelton resident died early Thursday in a Bridgeport shooting that left eight others wounded, the Connecticut Post reported.
The Shelton resident was identified as Savonie McNeil, 37.
Witnesses to the shooting — at the Trumbull Gardens public housing complex in the city’s North End — described a chaotic scene as gunfire erupted about 1 a.m. as a group of people were gathered outside the complex.

Five adult males and three adult females were wounded, the Post reported, quoting Police Chief Joseph Gaudett as saying at least two shooters wearing hooded sweatshirts perpetrated the crime.
Dozens of detectives are following leads and interviewing witnesses, Gaudett said, asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Detective Ada Curet at 203 – 581-5236.
