Shelton City Hall Closing For Renovations

Mayor Lauretti has announced that Shelton City Hall will be closed for business starting on Monday, December 28, 2020 and re-opening on Monday, January 4, 2021.

The building will be undergoing some renovations. Specific to the City Town Clerk’s Office, it will be closed from Wednesday, December 23, 2020 and re-opening on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

During this closure, residents wishing to pay their taxes before January 1st can do so as many of our tax services can be handled through the mail and online. If you mail your payment into the Tax Collector’s office, and it is postmarked with a December date, it will post as paid to your account with that same December date.

On line services can be accessed at the City of Shelton website at www.cityofshelton.org. and click on Tax Collector under City Departments. You are able to search taxes paid and unpaid, print out receipts for the IRS, and make payments online. If making a payment, you can pay by E‑check, debit, or credit card (please note there are fees associated with these payment methods and are explained on the website). You can also pay your tax bill at any Webster Bank branch in Shelton starting December 16, 2020 through February 1, 2021.

Beginning January 2, 2021 through February 1, 2021 you can also pay at any People’s United Bank branch. You do not need to be a customer with either bank to pay at one of them and you must have your original bill to pay at a bank. Delinquent taxes cannot be paid at a bank.
