Shelton Crash Sends Teen To Hospital

Update: Angelica Nimaltseva, the Middletown teen injured in Sunday’s car crash in Shelton, is listed in ​“fair” condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday.

An 18-year-old Middletown woman was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital after a serious crash on Shelton Avenue near Pine Street Sunday.

The accident happened at 10 a.m. when a vehicle being driven by Angelica Nimaltseva crashed into a tree. Police did not comment on the extent of her injuries.

The car was crumpled. It took about 15 minutes to free Nimaltseva from the wreckage, according to emergency radio reports.

The road was closed for several hours Sunday as police investigated.

“At this point, no enforcement action has been taken by police,” according to a prepared statement by Lt. Robert Kozlowsky.
