35 Shelton Officials Sworn In

Mayor Mark A. Lauretti was sworn in for his 10th two-year term Wednesday night at a ceremony at City Hall. 

Reflecting on the past 18 years in office, Lauretti promised to continue Shelton forward on a path to economic stability in hard times.

Our goals in 91 were very simple: to make Shelton affordable, and to create economic stability,” Lauretti said. 

While growth is stagnant” in other parts of the country and state, Lauretti said Shelton continues to grow.

Your trust is in good hands,” Lauretti said. We will continue on as we have in the past. And we will succeed.”

Officials who were elected to the city’s other boards and commissions were also sworn in Wednesday night. 

Master of Ceremonies Thomas J. Welch, the city’s attorney, noted that the group included several long-term officials.

The longest serving Board of Aldermen president, John Anglace, the longest serving Board of Aldermen vice-president, John Papa, the longest-serving Board of Aldermen member, John Jack” Finn, and the longest-serving Board of Education member, Paula Ellis, were all sworn in Wednesday.

Lauretti was inducted as the longest-serving mayor in the city’s history. 

You said yes’ to public service and to our community,” Welch said to the elected officials. May God bless you and guide you over the next two years.”
