Shelton police are investigating four break-ins that happened during two hours early Monday.
Outback Steakhouse, Brownson Country Club, a storage trailer on Waterview Drive and Il Palio restaurant were burglarized between 3 a.m. and about 5 a.m. on Dec. 20.
The crimes were as follows:
- 3:27 a.m. — Alarms sound at Brownson Country Club on Soundview Avenue. A garage there was broken into and thieves made off with a chainsaw and other tools.
- 3:43 a.m. — An alarm sounds at Outback Steakhouse. Suspects pried their way into a back door at the restaurant, but did not appear to steal anything.
- 4:45 a.m. — Thieves are noticed at Il Palio Restaurant on Corporate Drive. They pried their way into a door and removed a safe from the restaurant. As the thieves tried to drive away, security guards at the complex parked cars at the exit to try to block them. The suspects rammed the security cars to escape.
- After 5 a.m. — Police receive report of a storage trailer broken into on Waterview Dive. Various tools and about $500 worth of copper wire was stolen.
Shelton Police Chief Joel Hurliman said the incidents are probably not related to other recent thefts in town, including armed robberies at some businesses, and cigarette thefts from downtown shops.
