Shelton Students Recognized For Unified Sports Program Efforts

CONTRIBUTEDTwo Shelton High students were recognized for their efforts in the unified sports program Monday. 

Sarah Falsetti and Emily Manzo received the CIAC 1 Athlete 1 Partner Awards at a banquet at the AquaTurf. 

In addition to receiving plaques, they were presented with a Dylan’s Wings of Change pin from Ian Hockley. 

Dylan’s Wings of Change Foundation was established to honor the memory of Dylan Hockley, who was killed at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. Their mission is to help children with autism and other related conditions achieve their full potential. 

Unified sports is a registered program of Special Olympics that combines equal numbers of athletes with and without intellectual disability on sports teams for training and competition. 

Shelton High School has unified basketball, cheerleading and tracks teams.
