A mother of three who just moved into a Lester Street apartment is looking to move after she and her children narrowly escaped bullets whizzing through her 10-year-old daughter’s bedroom early Friday.
No injuries were reported.
The woman, who declined to give her name out of fear of retribution, said she had called police about 2:30 a.m. because of a fight going on in the street outside her residence.
About 30 minutes later, she said, someone fired at least two shots into her apartment.
“I called the police because a lot of people were fighting,” she said. “Maybe that was the problem.”
The woman, who said she works late hours, had just returned home.
Her children — two daughters, 10 and 6, and a son, 9 — were awake with her inside the bedroom, having been roused by the earlier fighting outside, when someone fired bullets through the bedroom window.
The bullets missed the family by a matter of inches and lodged into a wall.
“Everybody was sitting down in the bed,” the woman said. “My kids were playing.”
She said she didn’t know what was going on at first when the bullets broke through the window and zipped into the wall opposite.
But when she realized shots had been fired, she hurried her thankfully unhurt children away from the window and called police again.

The terrifying incident came only a month after she moved to the Lester Street.
Her family had previously lived in Derby.
“Now I need to move (again),” she said Friday morning.
Ansonia police released a statement Friday afternoon saying they were sent to Lester Street at about 3 a.m. after receiving a report of a “gun shot being fired.”
“Upon the officer’s arrival, they found bullet holes in the side of the multi-family residence including two holes in a window that led into the residence,” the statement from police reads.
No suspects were found at the location and no arrests have been made in the incident.
Officers had dispersed a male and female involved in an argument in the same area, about an hour prior to the shooting — but police said they don’t know if it is related to the shooting.
