SHELTON — The public is invited to the dedication ceremony of a Revolutionary War Patriot Marker at Shelton’s Veterans Memorial Park, 38 Canal St. E, on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024 at 11 a.m.
The Veterans Memorial Park was founded to recognize and honor the men and women who served our country in the military services. The addition of the Revolutionary War Patriots marker atVeterans Memorial Park will honor those Shelton/Huntington patriots who served during the American Revolution (19 Apr 1775 — 3 Sep 1783).
The new marker honors those who fought and aided the cause of America’s independence.
The Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Chapter, NSDAR, through public donations and grants, has provided this historic monument to commemorate the enduring courage and unwavering resolve of those who contributed to the founding of the United States of America and to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
All are invited to attend the dedication ceremony. Refreshments will be served.
The DAR is a non-profit women’s service organization dedicated to historic preservation, education and patriotism. Any woman over 18 who can prove lineal descent to an ancestor who served in the American Revolution is a prospective member.
