Shelton police arrested a 14-year-old boy Feb. 19 for allegedly breaking into and vandalizing the Holy Trinity Catholic School at 503 Shelton Ave.
Police received a complaint Feb. 2 saying someone spray-painted sexual references and “depictions” on lockers, desks and walls throughout the school.
“The vandalism was so extensive that school had to be cancelled for the day,” according to a statement from police.
The teen caused about $4,000 in damage.
Police did not detail how the 14-year-old became a suspect.
He was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespass, and first-degree criminal mischief.
His case is being handled by the juvenile court.
