A woman was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital after her vehicle collided with a truck on Roosevelt Drive near Lakeview Terrace Monday.
The crash happened at about 7:30 p.m. Derby police are investigating.
The woman’s name was not available Monday night.
Derby firefighters had to use Hurst tools — the “jaws of life” — to cut the woman out of her car.
She was taken to Yale on a trauma alert.
“it was a extended extrication due to the position of the victim. We had to lift the dash board off of the victim,” said David Lenart, an assistant chief with the Derby Fire Department and the incident commander during the wreck.
The crash closed Route 34/Roosevelt Drive as emergency crews dealt with the people and the wreckage.
No further information was available Monday night.
