U.S. Marine Looks Back at Vietnam in Historical Society Program
A U.S. Marine will discuss his service in Vietnam.
As the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War approaches, there’s likely to be a great deal of reflection and commentary about the U.S. role in the conflict.
In contrast, Robert Kukiel, of Seymour, will cover a detailed description of what it was like to be in the middle of combat.
For just over a year, he served as a radio operator for a mortar company that was involved in – among other things – defending an airbase attacked during the Tet Offensive in early 1968.
Kukiel’s presentation will be accompanied by a slideshow featuring photos taken during his tour of duty.
