Ansonia Police Arrest Four On Crack Charges

Four people were arrested this week on drug charges, including one suspect who allegedly sold crack in the parking lot of the Taco Bell where he works.

According to an arrest warrant application, Ansonia and Derby cops held a meeting in August 2010 to target drug dealers who had been plaguing both towns.”

As a result of that meeting, it was decided that a joint investigation would be started, targeting the known drug dealers in both towns,” according to an arrest warrant authored by Officer Kristen Hunt of the Ansonia Police Department.

Court documents state that Martin Wilby, Jr., 22, of Ansonia, sold crack cocaine out of his residence at 39 Woodlawn Ave. — and out of the parking lot at Taco Bell on Division Street, where he worked.

Police arrested Martin June 23 and charged him possession and sale of cocaine.

Complaints from the public about drug dealing triggered an investigation into a home at 182 N. State St. in Ansonia, where police June 22 arrested Derrick Giggles” Fogle, 32 and his girlfriend, Crystal Simonu, 35.

Fogle is charged with criminal possession of a firearm, selling cocaine, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned June 22 and is due back in court July 6. He’s being held on bonds totaling $175,000.

Simonu is charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is scheduled to appear in court July 11.

According to an arrest warrant, Officer Hunt had previously watched as Fogle sold crack from the porch of his residence.

Police obtained a search warrant for Fogle’s residence and, in the master bedroom, allegedly found several plastic bags stamped with red apples, a digital scale and a small amount of cocaine. Police also said they found a .38 caliber handgun.

Fogle and Simonu were previously arrested after a Statewide Narcotics Task Force raid in Shelton in Dec. 2010. Click here to read that story.

In addition, Fogle is a convicted felon with several weapons-related convictions on his record dating back to 1997, according to a police incident report.

Ansonia police served another search warrant June 22 at a first-floor apartment at 27 Orchard St., where they allegedly found a small amount of cocaine.

Kente Douglas, 34, of West Haven, was charged with possession and sale of cocaine. He was released on a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court July 5.

Further information on Douglas wasn’t available Friday.
